Chamber of Horrors - Chapter 2

I have known this mother and husband (I didn’t know he was a sex offender) for several years.  Then one day, she and her children disappeared.  My husband and I searched for her, and found her and children in a homeless shelter.  Then, I found out the true story, and I was shocked!

I was even more shocked as I encouraged and supported her over the next five years, accompanying her to attorney appointments, and at court hearings.  It was by traveling this road with her that I became aware of the “chamber of horrors” at Tarrant County Family Courts.

Judges in Tarrant County are elected, but the breakdown in the system are the associate judges, who are not elected.  Associate Judges are appointed by elected Judges.  This is an ongoing problem, but elected judges are indifferent to even finding a solution.  “Protective Parents Coalition” (http://www.facebook.com/protectiveparents) proposes a solution by requiring a court reporter to record all hearings, and that all court proceedings are also recorded via CCTV monitoring.  They have also suggested that court hearings be “audited” anonymously by a 3rd party. The intent is to document legal competency and adherence to ethics.

Also, http://www.tarrantcountyfamilycourts.com was formed by “we the people speak out on the injustices and corruption in the family court systems”.  This website outline numerous examples of horrific breaches of injustices.

These are the legal horrors that I observed inflicted upon this mother:

Money.  The spouse that has the most money to pay for attorneys and supporting experts wins.  Divorce attorneys charge $400 per hour; paralegal expenses not included.  Deposition $7,000.  Medical expert court appearance $4,000.  Mediation $5,000.  Home study for custody issues $5,000.  Therapist $5,000.  It took mother 5 years to get to finalize divorce, at a cost of over $80,000.

Costly legal maneuvers to manipulate the legal system and force mother to give up financially.  Associated Judge denied testimony of an expert medical witness who had documented medical reports. Opposing attorney showing up at scheduled hearings, only to ask for delays, time and time again.  Opposing attorney asking for same documents over and over again.  All of these cost mother thousands of dollars over 5 years.

Biases of associate judge.  Associate Judge denied testimony of expert medical witness paid for by mother, insulting him by calling him names.  Instead, Associate Judge ordered an evaluation by a doctor that she wanted.  Also, Associate Judge refused to hear any evidence of sexual offender’s past criminal behavior, where he preferred young boys, that he has two divinity degrees, and one of his victims was a boy in his church.

Lack of accountability.  This problem has been going on for years.  There is absolutely no accountability for associate judges, and they continue to produce victims in their legal chamber of horrors.

Finally, the associate judge’s private chambers, is the real chamber of horrors.  No court reporter or CCTV recording are permitted.  So, there are absolutely no records of what transpires within.  But it was there that the associate judge took mother’s attorney and sex offender’ attorney, along with mother’s medical expert….and the medical expert that the associate judge wanted.  The associate judge refused to hear mother’s medical expert and evidence, and said she demanded another medical expert who was already present in her chambers, and ordered the mother to pay for BOTH medical experts.  This maneuver financially and legally devastated the mother.

I know sex offender.  He is a very big man, standing 5 feet 8 inches, over 200 lbs.  At one of the court hearings that I attended with mother, I was waiting in the hallway, he walked passed me, and purposefully and willfully ran into me, nearly knocking me over.   He is mean and evil. He wants full custody of the three youngest children, a 7th grade boy, a 4th grade boy, and a 1st grade girl.  I have read the medical expert’s evaluation (which the associate judge refused to hear), and it documents that sex offender prefers young boys.

Mother must succeed in winning legal custody of these 3 young children.  Please help by donating any amount.

Needing a Miracle - Chapter 1

Early one evening, I got a call from a girl, crying on the phone.  She was asking me to help her get into college, and help her find ways to pay for college.  Later, I would learn that she is the second child of a single mom who has six children.  A few years ago, they had left her father, who is a convicted sex offender, and went to a homeless shelter.  From there they moved into a friend’s apartment.  Now, their church has helped them get into a home.

Over the past 15 years, I have helped high school kids get into college, and helped them find ways to pay for college.  I have never asked to be paid for my services; I have a day job that pays my bills.  I do this out of love, and to be a miracle to others.  Interestingly, the families that I help have evolved to be mostly single-mom families, living on the financial edge, and looking for a better life for their high school children.  Today, this #2 daughter has graduated from high school, and will be starting her second year in college.

It has taken single mom five years to get divorced, and cost her over $80,000, monies that depleted her savings, and monies borrowed from family and friends.  Now, sex offender, wants full custody of children #4, #5, and #6, and is demanding child support and complete termination of her parental rights.  He has access to a lot of money, and has hired the best family law firm in the area.  At one time, he had worked in the legal industry, and has access to judges and lawyers.  Single mom, on the other hand, has exhausted all of her financial resources and has no connections.  She needs a miracle to keep her children.

Sex Offender cannot be allowed to succeed in taking full custody of the children.  Child #4 is a 13 year old boy, who is of the greatest concern due to the father's criminal record.

Proverbs 11:25 “He who refreshes others, you will be refreshed.”  If you are a miracle to others, you will have a miracle.

We are asking you to be the miracle to this single mom.  Any donation will be a blessing.  If you are not able to donate, any spiritual support and encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Prelude

This is a sad story of a mother with six wonderful children who left their home to escape a vicious registered sex offender husband.

She filed for divorce, but soon after filing the papers she realized that he was able to manipulate the court system where he once worked. It therefore took over 50 months, and numerous concessions on her part, for the judge to approve a divorce and custody settlement in May 2013.

Unfortunately, the battle over his control is not over because in April 2014 he once again filed papers demanding the three youngest children be removed from her care and that the oldest son live with him full-time regardless of the court’s custody decision.

He has retained a very prominent and expensive attorney and plans to continue the fight for full custody. While she had been gainfully employed throughout the entire previous custody battle, she was laid off from her job in the same month she was served. She has no option but to defend her own case or raise funds to get some representation. This is a plea for help so that she can retain an attorney to represent her and the children.
